Mechanism

How to convert Word to PDF in this tab

Choose one .docx document to load the renderer. docx-preview reads the document locally and draws its text, styles, tables and inline images in a preview. Review the result before pressing Save as PDF. In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF as the destination. The PDF is generated by your browser’s print engine with A4 pages and 20 mm margins; it is not an automatic file download. No account is needed and the document is never uploaded. To convert docx to pdf with a predictable result, check the print preview too: browser pagination can differ from what Word shows.

Limits

What to expect / Limits

  • Common body text, headings, lists, simple tables, inline PNG/JPG images, bold, italic, colors and font sizes work in the tested samples. Chinese and Japanese text use fonts available on your device.
  • Page counts and line breaks can differ from Word. Page number fields may be blank, and headers or footers may not repeat when long content flows onto another printed page.
  • Text boxes, SmartArt, charts, equations, tracked revisions and floating graphics may be missing or look different. A yellow notice lists the supported warning types found in the document XML; it is not a complete compatibility check.
  • Fonts may be substituted across devices, changing spacing and pagination. For formal documents that need their original layout, use Word’s built-in PDF export.
  • Only .docx is supported. Open old .doc or .rtf files in Word and save them as .docx first. This tool processes one file at a time and saves through browser print, with no batch mode.
  • Desktop browsers have been tested. The mobile printing experience depends on the browser and whether it offers a PDF destination.
Questions

Questions about this Word to PDF converter

How do I save the PDF?

After the DOCX preview appears, click Save as PDF. In the browser’s print dialog, select Save as PDF as the destination, inspect the pages and confirm the save. The page does not download a PDF automatically.

Can I use this to convert Word to PDF without uploading?

Yes. Your .docx file is read and rendered on your device. Only the rendering code is downloaded after you select a file; the document is not sent to a server.

Why does my PDF look different from Word?

Browser layout and your installed fonts decide line breaks and pagination. Complex objects may be missing, and page number fields may be blank. Use Word’s own export when the original layout is required.

Does this accept DOC or RTF files?

Only DOCX is accepted. Save a .doc or .rtf file as .docx in Word before selecting it here.
