Mechanism

How this translates centimetres to pixels

This preset uses a 6×2 cm rectangle at 100 DPI, which rounds to 236×79 pixels, and a 10–20 KB target range. These are the settings shown by this tool; compare them with your current application instructions. Selecting another DPI recalculates the pixel dimensions. Position the crop around the handwriting, then check the encoded JPEG and its reported range status. The DPI selection changes this calculation only; it does not write that DPI value into the JPEG header.

Limits

Where this SSC signature resize falls short

  • The chosen DPI only drives the front-end pixel calculation. The tool does not write DPI metadata into the output JPEG headers.
  • Changing DPI changes the output pixel dimensions. A fixed byte budget may then require more compression or become unreachable; the tool does not judge legibility.
  • This page resizes the file but cannot verify ink colour, clarity, or portal acceptance. Source images are capped at 40MB.

Questions about resizing a signature for SSC

How are centimetres converted into pixels?

For each side, the tool multiplies centimetres by the selected DPI and divides by 2.54, then rounds to a whole pixel. Physical dimensions alone do not specify a digital pixel count.

Which DPI setting should I choose?

Use the resolution required by your current instructions, if one is stated. The default of 100 DPI is a calculation setting, not a guarantee of SSC acceptance. Custom pixel fields are available if your notice gives pixels directly.

Does choosing 200 DPI set the downloaded JPEG to 200 DPI?

No. It changes how many pixels the crop contains. This tool does not write your selected DPI into the JPEG metadata, so it cannot satisfy a requirement specifically about that header value.

What if the crop meets the KB range but the strokes look faint?

Check the downloaded image at its actual size. Crop from a clearer source or scan again if necessary. A matching byte count does not establish that the signature is readable.
