How resizing to 20KB works
The tool starts with the original dimensions and searches JPEG quality against 20,480 bytes. If permitted, it tries a sequence of smaller dimensions when quality alone cannot reach the target. It does not crop to a requested shape or let you prescribe output width and height.
Where a 20KB target falls short
- Even the allowed quality and size changes can miss the ceiling. The result remains available with a warning.
- A file within 20KB may still be too small in pixels or have the wrong aspect ratio for a form. Check the downloaded image.

Why are my output dimensions smaller?
Resolution reduction was enabled and the quality search could not fit the target at the larger dimensions. Smaller output is one possible outcome, not a required step for every source.
Can I keep the pixels fixed and still request 20KB?
Untick resolution reduction. The tool will keep the dimensions and report a missed target if quality alone cannot fit.
Can I enter an exact width and height here?
No. Use the signature/photo crop tool with Custom dimensions when both pixel dimensions and a KB range must be specified.
Does meeting the byte target mean the image is accepted?
No. A successful size result only addresses the selected ceiling. The destination may check dimensions, format, composition or other conditions.
